IPOH, 19 September 2026 — A delegation of university academics from across East and Southeast Asia took to two wheels to explore the historical core of Ipoh today during the “DAO” International Lecturers Cycling Site Visit & Tour.

Bringing together scholars from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, the leisure cycling programme offered participants an immersive look into Ipoh Old Town’s distinctive architectural, cultural, and culinary landscape.

The heritage itinerary included stops at the Pertubuhan Warisan Bandar Timah Ipoh (Ipoh Tin Town Heritage Society), the iconic Ho Yan Hor Museum, the Ipoh Stable Market, and the historic Ipoh Turf Club. Alongside heritage sightseeing, visiting delegates sampled local delicacies and engaged directly with local community spaces.

Organisers highlighted that the event served as an informal platform for cross-border knowledge exchange and cultural diplomacy, promoting academic networking through relaxed, sustainable tourism.

Tourism Perak endorsed the initiative, noting that experiential and heritage-based cycling tours play an essential role in showcasing Ipoh’s living history and rich gastronomy to international educational and professional groups.
