IPOH, 31 August 2026 – More than 20,000 visitors thronged Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout here last night to enliven the Sambutan Ambang Merdeka X Festival Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah 2026, held in conjunction with the 69th National Day celebrations.
The event was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad and was attended by distinguished guests and members of the state government leadership.
The highlight of the Merdeka Eve celebration featured performances by invited artistes Naqiu and Khai Bahar, as well as cultural performances by the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), before culminating in a countdown to National Day and a fireworks display.
The event also featured a presentation on the Perak Stay & Explore initiative by the Perak State EXCO for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee, along with the screening of the Promising Perak 2026 promotional video, which highlights the state’s diverse tourism attractions and unique destinations.
The festivities of the Sambutan Ambang Merdeka X Festival Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah 2026 continued the following day with a variety of exhibitions, sales activities and cultural performances for members of the public to enjoy.
