LUMUT, 29 August 2026 — Dataran Putra Lumut came alive this morning as local residents gathered for Fiesta Lumut 2026, combining a Car-Free Day, community clean-up drive (gotong-royong), and festive family activities to celebrate Malaysia’s 69th Independence Day.
The event was officially launched by the Minister of Higher Education, Senator Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. Also present were Manjung District Officer Shamsul Ridzuan Idris, Manjung District Chieftain Lt. Col. (Rtd) Dato’ Shaharudin Haji Nazari, and Pantai Remis State Assemblyman Wong May Ing, along with senior members of the Manjung Municipal Council, local agency heads, and community volunteers.
Visitors enjoyed a wide array of activities throughout the morning, including a Merdeka-themed aerobics session, a mini brisk walk, a Coffee Street, and a decorated bicycle competition featuring the Jalur Gemilang. The festival also highlighted local entrepreneurs through the “Taste of Manjung” showcase, alongside traditional games, e-sports tournaments, chess matches, cooking contests, recycling initiatives, and a lucky draw.
Organisers noted that the fiesta successfully transformed the area surrounding Dataran Putra Lumut into a pedestrianised hub, giving the public an opportunity to experience Lumut in a vehicle-free environment while strengthening community ties during National Month.
