IPOH, 18 Nov 2025 — The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, hosted a major engagement session with Perak’s tourism industry leaders at Hotel Casuarina @ Meru tonight, bringing together key operators from across the state’s travel and hospitality sectors.
The high-level meeting was convened to gather direct feedback from local operators, aiming to sharpen strategic policy and bolster the nation’s tourism roadmap ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Discussions focused primarily on policy development, aligning tourist data, and deepening public-private collaboration among federal bodies, state authorities, and local businesses.
Prior to the evening summit, Minister Tiong spent the day touring several flagship cultural and natural heritage sites around Lenggong, including the Lenggong Archaeological Gallery and the Lenggong Geopark Gallery. During the visit, he also sampled kebebe — a traditional local delicacy that serves as a cornerstone of the area’s unique gastronomic identity.
The engagement was attended by a prominent delegation of state and ministry officials, including Loh Sze Yee, Chairman of the Perak Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee; Chua Chun Hua, Deputy Secretary-General (Tourism) at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC); and Halizah Sipun, Perak Deputy State Secretary and Director of the Perak Economic Planning Unit (UPEN).
Also present were Tourism Malaysia Deputy Chairman Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, alongside key MOTAC division heads: Wan Ashri @ W. Maheran Leman (Cultural Policy), Masliza Che Omar (Industry Development), Johnny Anak Andrew (Tourism Licensing and Enforcement), and Mohd Khairul Kassim (Infrastructure Development).
Stakeholders noted that strong alignment between federal and state bodies will be critical to ensuring Perak solidifies its position as a premier national tourism destination ahead of the 2026 campaign.
