Perak Woos South Korean Market with ‘Healing Tourism’ Familiarisation Trip Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026

Tourism Perak welcomes four travel agencies from Seoul for a familiarisation trip, showcasing Ipoh and Taiping as ideal destinations for ‘slow travel’ and ‘healing tourism’ ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

IPOH, 5 Mar 2026 — Four travel agencies from Seoul, South Korea, arrived in Perak today for a familiarisation (FAM) trip, receiving a warm welcome from Tourism Perak Chief Executive Officer, Suhaimi Abu Hassan Shairi, at the scenic Tasik Cermin.

Organised by the Tourism Malaysia Seoul office with backing from Tourism Perak, the trip aims to showcase the state’s flagship tourism products and attractions to South Korean industry players. The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to promote Malaysia as a premier Asian destination in the run-up to the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.

The itinerary was strategically designed to capitalise on current South Korean travel trends, which indicate a growing preference for secondary destinations that offer authentic experiences, ‘slow travel’, and ‘healing tourism’. State officials noted that both Ipoh and Taiping perfectly cater to this emerging demand through their unique cultural heritage, rich local gastronomy, tranquil atmosphere, and enchanting natural landscapes.

Over the course of the two-day, one-night (2D1N) visit, the South Korean delegation will explore various key attractions across the state, opening new avenues for cross-border collaboration and the development of tailored tour packages for the Korean market.

Tourism Perak also extended its deepest appreciation to its strategic partners, Tasik Cermin and Chang Jiang White Coffee, for their sponsorship and support in ensuring the success of the familiarisation programme.
