Tourism Perak Organises Digital Marketing Course in Gerik to Strengthen Tourism Industry Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026

Tourism Perak organised a Digital Marketing Course in Gerik for 80 participants from Gerik, Lenggong, and Pengkalan Hulu. The initiative equips local operators with digital skills to enhance visibility and competitiveness ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026, underscoring Perak’s commitment to digital transformation, sustainable tourism, and rural tourism development.

GERIK, 18 August 2025 – Tourism Perak successfully organised a Digital Marketing Course at Cottage Inn, Gerik, gathering 80 participants from Gerik, Lenggong, and Pengkalan Hulu. The programme aimed to equip local operators with essential digital knowledge and skills, preparing them to compete in an increasingly technology-driven tourism landscape.

The course was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Mohamad Kamil bin Dato’ Haji Shafie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tourism Perak. Also present were YBrs. Encik Ananthirawit a/l Prawat, Senior Headman of Gerik, and Encik Zulhymi Effendy bin Zakaria, Officer of the Tourism Perak Development Division. Their attendance reflected strong institutional support for building capacity among local tourism stakeholders, particularly in rural districts with high tourism potential.

Delivered by digital marketing practitioner Cikgu Anna Aziz (Tutoring TSP), the training provided participants with comprehensive insights into managing social media platforms and producing high-quality digital content. The sessions emphasised practical, hands-on approaches to enhance online visibility, improve audience engagement, and attract a wider customer base. Participants were also introduced to emerging digital trends that can be leveraged to strengthen competitiveness and drive sustainable growth.

In his address, Dato’ Mohamad Kamil stressed the importance of digital readiness as the industry moves towards a more competitive future.

“This course is an important step in empowering our local tourism players. By strengthening their digital capabilities, we are ensuring that Perak remains visible and attractive to a global audience as we approach Visit Malaysia 2026,” he said.

His remarks underscored the strategic role of digital marketing in connecting local destinations with international travellers.

The initiative forms part of Tourism Perak’s broader agenda to advance digital transformation within the state’s tourism ecosystem. By prioritising innovation and capacity building, the organisation aims to elevate service quality while creating new opportunities for sustainable tourism development.
