Derived from the Arabic word that means “knowledge,” Muallim is a newly created district that focuses on education, especially in relation to the era leading to Malaysia\u2019s independence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sultan Idris University of Education<\/a>, which was founded in 1919, is located in the district.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the district is graced by the local establishment known as Sarang Art Hub<\/a>, which functions as a restaurant and gallery filled with props used in films directed by one of Malaysia’s most beloved film directors, the late Mamat Khalid (real name: Mohamad bin Mohammad Khalid), who was born in Perak and is the younger brother of Malaysia’s prolific and celebrated cartoonist, Datuk Lat (Mohammad Nor bin Mohammad Khalid).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
